The New England Patriots made a big move on Tuesday regarding their coaching staff.
He hired Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to lead his offense the following season after it had struggled mightily the previous season. The team averaged only 21 points per game, the lowest in the Bill Belichick era.
This hire likely means the Patriots will not acquire star wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins. Yes, Hopkins is familiar with O’Brien, but there has been some drama in the past when the two were in Houston.
Ben Volin tweeted, “Deandre Hopkins is having a tough time in New England given his contract ($19.45 million + no-trade clause in 2023) and past relationship with Bill O’Brien.”
The Patriots certainly need another wide receiver this season, but they are likely to go in free agency or a different direction in the draft.
Where do you think Hopkins will end up this off-season?
