The results are in for this year’s Baseball Hall of Fame class and only one of the 28 candidates is on the ballot: third baseman Scott Rolen.
The Cooperstown voting is often a source of controversy among fans, but one omission greatly upset the baseball world and that was 10-time Gold Glove winning centerfielder Andrew Jones.
He made his voice heard on social media.
Barstool Sports wrote, “If Andrew Jones isn’t inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame today, it’s ineligible for another year.”
CBS’ Barrett Sallee tweeted, “It is a complete joke that Andrew Jones is not in the Hall of Fame.”
One fan claimed, “Scott Rolen was no better at baseball than Andrew Jones.”
“Andrew Jones is a better player than Scott Rolen. Like what are we doing here?” another user asked.
WRBL’s Jack Patterson tweeted, “How Andrew Jones and Billy Wagner are getting passed is absurd to me.”
