Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helair has been battling injuries since November but appears to be finally on the mend. So will he play in the Chiefs’ playoff game tomorrow against the Jacksonville Jaguars?
The answer appears to be no. According to ESPN NFL insider Field Yates, Edwards-Helair was not activated from injured reserve for the team’s playoff game today. As a result, he will not play tomorrow.
Edwards-Helair started the first six games of the season before injuries, poor play and the emergence of rookie Isiah Pacheco forced him back into spot duty. In 10 games he had 453 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Pacheco has taken the starting job and is running with it (no pun intended). He has seven games with at least 80 yards receiving in his last nine games, including the playoffs.
The Chiefs could still activate Clyde Edwards-Helair at some point during the postseason, but the way they are playing Edwards-Helair is more of a luxury than a necessity.
The run game may not be much of a factor in tomorrow’s game against the Jaguars, as the Jaguars are far more vulnerable to the pass than the run.
Will we see Edwards-Helaire at all during these NFL playoffs?
