There was some surprising news Wednesday morning from the Maryland football program.
Star quarterback Tolia Tagovailoa announced that he would return for his senior season. This comes after a lot of speculation about who would declare for the 2023 NFL Draft.
Tagovailoa said in a statement, “After careful deliberation, I have decided to return for my senior season. It has been an honor to be a student-athlete at the University of Maryland and to represent this great university.”
Maryland fans are excited to have Tagovailoa back for another season.
Another tweet read, “Good for the Terps. Tagovailoa makes the Big Ten East better.”
“We’re not done yet! @coach lox Creates a culture in which seniors want to stay and finish what they started,” read another tweet.
Tagovailoa finished the 2022 season with 3,008 yards, 18 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. For his career, he has thrown for 7,879 yards, 51 touchdowns, and 26 interceptions.
He would look to have another stellar season in 2023 before coming up to the NFL.
