People will mock and insult anyone for clout these days and one controversial comedian decided to make Bills safety Asphalt Hamlin the part of his recent joke.
A recent Christian church event called “Reawaken America” featured comedians hired by the church mocking flu shots and vaccines before bringing up a bit of Hamlin’s cardiac arrest episode. He pantomimes falling on his face and remains motionless on the floor for a while, causing the crowd to laugh.
The comedian then got up and called him a “crazy conspiracy theorist” for suggesting that people who get vaccines or flu shots are more susceptible to cardiac arrest. But apparently this is a belief shared by all the laughing members of the audience.
The comedian and the event itself are being lambasted on social media for acting so cruelly towards Hamlin, noting that he could have died on the field had it not been for the half an hour of medical treatment on the field:
One user replied, “I watched that whole clip waiting for a joke that never came. But the audience laughed the whole time. It’s a good thing they took the lead out of the gas, I wish it would happen sooner.” “
“I thought he sucked at first, but Hamlin’s mocking at the end shows how much he sucks and how heartless the audience is. Hmm, what happened to ‘love thy neighbor’?” wrote another.
“He’s not saying anything clever, he’s not making any main points with his comedy. He can talk about anything. It’s the equivalent of a school fight where you say something and the other person uses your words.” repeats in a mocking tone,” wrote a third.
Reprehensible things, but good to see that the wider world agrees.
