during an appearance on ESPN Get up This Tuesday, former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum offered a firm take on Mike McCarthy’s future with the Cowboys
Tenenbaum believes the Cowboys should move on from McCarthy. He feels the team is undisciplined and careless towards football under McCarthy’s leadership.
“He needs to make a big change and it is in the head coach position,” Tanenbaum said. “Over the last two years, he has 278 penalties – the most in the NFL – and 23 turnovers. It’s not on Kellen Moore, it’s on the head coach.”
Tannenbaum continued, “Get someone in there who will have a lot of discipline.”
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has already said McCarthy’s job is secure for the 2023 season.
Over the past two seasons, the Cowboys have won 24 games under McCarthy. The main issue is that they keep coming less season after season.
McCarthy deserves some share of the blame, but he’s not the only reason Dallas has struggled to reach its full potential.
