When the Indianapolis Colts hired Jeff Saturday as their interim head coach, most of the football world was stunned.
If Colts owner Jim Irsay finally decides to give Saturday the full-time gig this offseason, well, the reaction could be far worse than shock and bewilderment.
On CBS Today, NFL Insider Reported by Jonathan Jones He “could be the guy” at Saturday Indy when all is said and done.
To say the Jones report didn’t go over well among NFL fans is an understatement.
“Lol why would Jeff be considered?” asked a Vikings fan.
,@JimIrsay You’ll lose an entire fan base if you make Jeff Saturday the permanent head coach,” said one Colts fan. “He shouldn’t even be in the running.”
“There is no f—-g way to be with the Colts on Saturday. No way,” added another angry Colts fan. “Irsay can’t sell this to his fans. He just can’t. And if this is indeed true, Irsay should step down immediately.”
“What can the colts do???????” asked a dumb Commanders fan.
“I don’t care about indie. In saying that, you will lose your fan base’s trust in your decision making and leadership, @JimIrsay,” said the other Colts loudly.
The four-time All-Pro offensive lineman with the Colts went about Saturday’s job about as well as you’d expect from a guy who never coached above high school and was doing broadcast work for ESPN when he got was hired.
After the Colts won their first game under Saturday, they dropped seven straight to end the season. The final five games included 28 losses to the New York Giants and 35 losses to the Dallas Cowboys and a 36–33 overtime loss at Minnesota in which Indianapolis blew a 33–0 lead.
