Chad Henne was fired after the Kansas City Chiefs downed the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday evening.
Henne had to come in for Patrick Mahomes in the first half after Mahomes sprained his ankle. His first drive came from the two-yard line and he ran 98 yards for a touchdown to put the Chiefs up 17–7.
Henne was congratulated in the locker room by both Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid, which drew cheers from his teammates.
It was great to see the NFL community everyone cheering for Henne as he came into the game in a big way and delivered.
“Without the guidance of Chad Henne #prominent For that 98-yard TD drive, we’re not going to have a shot at the AFC conference finals,” read another tweet.
Mahomes returned in the second half, but without Henne playing in the second quarter, the Chiefs probably won’t play next week.
If Mahomes’ injury worsens, Henne could be used again next week. He’ll have to be ready because they’ll get the winner of Sunday’s Bills-Bengals game.
