Fans are not liking Tony Romo’s nickname for Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
At the start of the broadcast of Sunday’s wild card matchup between Miami and Buffalo, Romo referred to Allen as “Mr. January” for his best playoff appearances so far in his young career. Something that the NFL world pushed back a bit on social media:
One user tweeted, “Romo calling Josh Allen ‘Mr. January’ for 2 great playoff performances in 6 playoff games is a weird one, yet not shocking in any way.”
“Did Romo call Josh Allen Mr. January?” asked Bob Fesco. “If I’m not mistaken, Allen has yet to lead his team to a Super Bowl.”
“Tony Romo: That’s why Josh Allen is Mr. January!!! … My husband: Well, I guess the nickname makes sense because Allen never played in February,” replied one prominent fan.
“Did Tony Romo just call Josh Allen ‘Mr. January????’ Said?” Will Parkinson thought. “Buddy… settle down.”
The Bills find themselves up 14–0 with two minutes to go in the first.
