Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Dungy is known for wearing his political/social beliefs on his sleeve.
On Thursday, the former NFL head coach announced he would participate in this year’s “March for Life” — an anti-abortion rally in Washington, D.C.
“Tomorrow Lauren and I will be in Washington DC to participate in the 2023 March for Life. Sports Word took to Twitter to respond to Dungy’s announcement. Admittedly, this divisive topic resulted in mixed reactions.
“Disappointed that the coach is a right wing smh,” wrote one fan.
“I love it, Coach! Wish I was there. #MarchForLife,” said another.
“You needed some life on that broadcast last weekend,” said another.
Dungy has found himself at the center of criticism over the past week. He grabbed a ton of flack for his stellar performance as the play-by-play man for NBC during a wild card matchup between Jacksonville and Los Angeles. and yesterday, it was blast for a controversial Commentary opposing the pro-LGTBQ bill.
Despite this negative attention coming his way, Dungy continues to voice his opinions in a very public way.
